system Asmund consist from 3 parts:

dGPS Kenaz
(superior accuracy, max failure 1m)/ GPS Holux(small GPS modul, worn in cap pocket)
Program PC Mapper - you can draw on PDA, synchronize with PC and also work and store your maps in PC. More about software here.

system Asmund was developed by Ake Akesson together with Kartsam and baptisized in October 2001 near Varberg, Sweden. A lot of projects. was completed during 8 years and 15 individual mapmakers mostly from Sweden and Norway has enlarged the "Asmund team".

Thanks to mobile environment you can have map in digital form during entire process of developing. You can see directly at place, how it will look on ready map. Can be used for creating of any kind of map (depends only on user defined symbols). Thanks to GPS you don´t need anymore to think about position of features and use all your time for generalization.
Orienteering maps made by system Asmund are more secure. That is advantage not only for mapmakers, but for course-setters and organizers as well. You can use system Asmund for whole preparings of race/training - revision or final editation of map. Checking places/features for controls - direct change in map if it is not suitable.

GPS devices becoming more and more popular among orienteers, but maps are mostly not made with GPS support. Athlete is able to see places, where map is not so precious.

Films, pencils, plexi and even compass is not needed. Well, pencil can be used for tapping on your PDA :-)
